Abstract

Personalized dosage forms manufactured by 3D and 4D printing have brought changes in the pharmaceutical sector by helping patients with their personalized, individualized treatments. These therapies are known for their great adherence, safety, and effectiveness. It does offer the ability to formulate a personalized dosage form by controlling the dose, shape, and release characteristics. Comparatively with respect to conventional methods, they give significant benefits by tailoring dosage forms to meet patients' needs. This research paper gives you an idea of how 3D and 4D printing are used for formulating personalized dosage forms with the important printing techniques, smart materials, and print-friendly biomaterials used in the development of a responsive drug delivery system with the principles of additive manufacturing. There are various types of dosage forms that can be manufactured, ranging from tablets to microneedles and polypills. This paper also consists of information regarding Advantages, current challenges, and emerging trends, which do include artificial intelligence, digital healthcare manufacturing, and regulatory issues. In short, we can see that 3d and 4D printing technologies ensure the precise enhancement of precision medicine and tailored pharmaceutical manufacturing. future advancement in smart materials, printing techniques, and laws which will enhance the growth/implantation of personalized medicine in clinical and industrial settings.
