This paper presents a simulation-based study of the Residual Voltage Bus Transfer (RVBT) scheme used to ensure continuity of supply to motor loads during source failure. Various motor bus transfer methods, including fast transfer, in-phase transfer, and residual voltage transfer, are briefly reviewed to highlight their operational differences and application constraints. The focus is on the RVBT scheme, where transfer is initiated only after the motor bus residual voltage decays to a predefined threshold to avoid severe electrical and mechanical transients. An EMTP-based model is developed to implement the transfer scheme. The control logic required to execute the bus transfer is also modeled, and at end the obtained results are graphically presented and briefly analyzed.
