This paper presents a detailed study on fast motor bus transfer (FMBT) scheme, focusing on maintaining supply continuity to critical motor loads during power source disturbances. Various motor bus transfer techniques, including fast transfer, in-phase transfer, and residual voltage transfer, are reviewed to highlight their operational principles, advantages, and limitations. An electromagnetic transients program (EMTP)-based model is developed to investigate the dynamic behaviour of interconnected motor systems during transfer conditions. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is evaluated through the analysis of voltage phase angle difference between the sources, bus voltage, V⁄HZ ratio, motor mechanical speed, slip, electrical torque, and motor current during the bus transfer event. The Simulation results demonstrate that all evaluated parameters remain within the permissible limits specified by ANSI C50.41, thereby validating the technical feasibility of the proposed fast motor bus transfer scheme.
