The increasing integration of distributed renewable energy resources has transformed traditional electricity networks into decentralized smart grid ecosystems. In modern smart grids, consumers can also act as energy producers, commonly known as prosumers, creating opportunities for peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading. However, conventional energy trading systems rely heavily on centralized intermediaries, which often introduce security vulnerabilities, transaction delays, operational inefficiencies, and increased costs. Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution for addressing these challenges by providing decentralized, transparent, and tamper-resistant transaction mechanisms. This study proposes a blockchain-enabled secure energy trading platform designed for decentralized smart grid applications. The proposed framework integrates blockchain technology, smart contracts, distributed energy resources, smart meters, and energy management systems to facilitate secure and automated energy transactions among participants. Smart contracts are utilized to automate energy trading agreements, verify transactions, and execute payments without requiring third-party intervention. The platform ensures data integrity, transaction transparency, and enhanced cybersecurity while supporting efficient energy market operations. Performance evaluation demonstrates improvements in transaction security, operational transparency, trading efficiency, and renewable energy utilization compared with traditional energy trading approaches. The proposed platform enables trustworthy peer-to-peer energy exchanges and supports the development of sustainable and resilient smart grid infrastructures. The findings indicate that blockchain-based energy trading systems can play a significant role in future decentralized energy markets and smart city ecosystems.
