Abstract

The global transition toward renewable energy sources has significantly increased the demand for advanced power conversion technologies capable of ensuring efficient, reliable, and stable energy transfer. Renewable energy systems such as solar photovoltaic arrays, wind turbines, fuel cells, and battery storage units require sophisticated power electronics converters to interface with electrical grids and end-user applications. Conventional converter technologies often face limitations related to efficiency, power density, switching losses, thermal management, and grid compatibility. Consequently, the development of next-generation power electronics converters has become a critical research area for enabling large-scale renewable energy integration. This study investigates emerging power electronics converter technologies designed to enhance the performance of renewable energy systems. The proposed framework examines advanced converter topologies, wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, intelligent control algorithms, and digital power management techniques. Silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technologies are explored for their ability to improve switching performance and reduce energy losses. Additionally, smart control strategies are employed to optimize converter operation under varying environmental and load conditions. Performance evaluation demonstrates substantial improvements in conversion efficiency, power quality, thermal performance, and renewable energy utilization compared with conventional converter systems. The findings indicate that next-generation power electronics converters can significantly support grid modernization, smart energy management, and sustainable power generation. The proposed technologies provide a practical pathway for achieving highly efficient renewable energy integration in future smart grid environments.
