Conventional barcode-based billing systems require manual scanning of products, resulting in long queues, increased billing time, and higher Labor costs. This paper presents an Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled RFID-based Smart Autonomous Shopping Trolley designed to automate product identification and billing processes in retail environments. The proposed system utilizes a Node MCU ESP8266 microcontroller, EM18 RFID reader, RFID tags, I2C LCD display, and Wi-Fi communication module to create an intelligent shopping platform. Products are identified automatically through RFID technology and the billing information is updated in real time on both a local display and a web-based interface. The system also supports item removal functionality through a dedicated control mechanism. Experimental implementation demonstrates improved billing efficiency, reduced waiting time, enhanced shopping experience, and accurate product tracking. The proposed solution offers a scalable and cost-effective framework for next-generation smart retail applications.
