Abstract

The rapid digitalization of industrial control systems (ICS) and smart electrical infrastructure has significantly improved operational efficiency, automation, and real-time decision-making capabilities. However, the increasing interconnectivity of operational technology (OT), information technology (IT), Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and cloud platforms has expanded the cyberattack surface of critical infrastructure. Cyber threats targeting power grids, substations, industrial automation systems, and energy management platforms can result in operational disruptions, financial losses, equipment damage, and public safety risks. Consequently, robust cybersecurity frameworks have become essential for protecting modern industrial and electrical systems. This study proposes a comprehensive cybersecurity framework designed specifically for industrial control systems and smart electrical infrastructure. The framework integrates risk assessment mechanisms, network segmentation strategies, intrusion detection systems, artificial intelligence-based threat monitoring, access control policies, and incident response procedures. Advanced security technologies including machine learning algorithms, behavioral analytics, and real-time monitoring platforms are employed to identify and mitigate cyber threats before they compromise system operations. Performance evaluation demonstrates significant improvements in threat detection accuracy, response efficiency, network resilience, and operational security compared with conventional security approaches. The proposed framework supports proactive cybersecurity management while maintaining system availability and reliability. The findings indicate that integrating advanced cybersecurity strategies with intelligent monitoring technologies can substantially strengthen the protection of critical industrial and electrical infrastructures in modern smart grid environments.
